Capabilities / Custom production management

Custom production management

Qapp does not include standard MRP, BOM, or production modules ready to activate. The service reviews the process and develops a specific scope under proposal.

The real operation before the feature catalog

Custom production management

Introduction

Two factories can use the word production for completely different processes: one works by batches, another by orders, another by projects, and another combines subcontracting with internal operations.

When it starts creating value

It creates value when it replaces critical spreadsheets, makes progress and blockers visible, and provides enough traceability to decide, without imposing a full MRP when a narrower solution is required.

Strengths

  • Observed process Orders, stages, owners, materials, times, and exceptions are studied before screens are defined.
  • Prioritized scope The proposal separates what is essential to operate from capabilities that can be added later.
  • Useful traceability The milestones and data needed to answer real production questions are recorded.
  • Controlled evolution Testing, deployment, and maintenance support process change as contracted.

Signs worth noticing

  • The status of an order is only known by asking the shop floor or reviewing a spreadsheet.
  • Delays are found only after they affect the promised delivery.
  • Costs, consumption, or rework are reconstructed later from incomplete sources.

Where the difference appears first

  • Planning Organize demand, priorities, and dates according to the modeled scope.
  • Shop floor Record progress, blockers, and results without leaving the agreed flow.
  • Supply Relate needs and availability when included in the development.
  • Leadership Observe fulfillment, bottlenecks, and exceptions through traceable data.

The cost of not having it

Managing production without a reliable source spreads losses across several areas:

  • Waiting and priority changes that remain invisible.
  • Emergency purchases or idle materials caused by poor coordination.
  • Delivery promises based on outdated information.
  • Rework and deviations that are hard to explain or prevent.

Main capabilities

  • Discovery of products, orders, stages, resources, and exceptions.
  • Design of the model, statuses, permissions, and traceability.
  • Development or integration of the prioritized scope.
  • Testing with real cases and phased deployment.
  • Maintenance and evolution under proposal.

How it compares

Qapp's custom service compared with specialized manufacturing products
What matters when deciding Qapp Odoo Manufacturing MRPeasy
Type of offering Tailored discovery and development service Manufacturing application integrated with the Odoo suite Cloud MRP software for small and midsize manufacturers
Ready MRP and BOM Not included as standard; developed only when scope requires it Includes orders, planning, and bills of materials Includes planning, inventory, and single or multi-level BOMs
Starting point Discovery of the company's specific process Configuration of applications and processes on Odoo Adoption of a manufacturing-oriented MRP flow
Standard depth Limited to the developed and contracted scope MRP, shop floor, quality, PLM, and maintenance available Planning, inventory, purchasing, shop floor, and traceability available
Fit Close design around the prioritized process, without claiming product parity Customization within a broad business suite Standardized product focused on small and midsize manufacturers
Best fit Company with a particular process needing a built scope Company seeking an integrated suite with extensive manufacturing Manufacturer seeking to adopt a ready specialized MRP

Commercial positioning based on each vendor's public offering. In Qapp each capability is sold as a module. Plans and editions may change.

Frequently asked questions

Does Qapp include an MRP module?
No. The offering is a custom service and scope is defined after reviewing the operation.
Does it include bills of materials or BOMs?
Not as a standard capability. It can be developed when discovery shows it is needed and the proposal includes it.
Can it replace a specialized MRP?
That is not assumed. Odoo Manufacturing and MRPeasy are specialized products; Qapp proposes development limited to the agreed problem.
How is the first phase defined?
The flow delivering measurable value with lower testing risk is prioritized, while expansions remain separate phases.
Can it integrate with inventory or purchasing?
It can be assessed, but depends on existing systems, data quality, interfaces, and contracted scope.
Is maintenance included?
Support, corrections, and evolution can be included. The proposal defines coverage and responsibilities.

What to see in a demo

The discovery session should follow one real order from demand to completion:

  • Identify origin, priority, product, and promised date.
  • Walk through stages, owners, materials, times, and blockers.
  • Define which data must be traceable and which decisions it enables.
  • Prioritize the first phase, testing, deployment, and maintenance.
